‘Unexpected Encounters with Deep Time’: EEHN Receives Funding Award

We’re pleased to announce that EEHN has been made an International Interdisciplinary Research Group, courtesy of funding from the Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities.

This award will allow us to host a series of visiting scholars over the coming academic year, to join us in considering our common research theme of ‘Unexpected Encounters with Deep Time’.

In November, Prof Libby Robin of the Australian National University will join us for a week to think about enchantment as a way of encountering deep time.

In February, we will think about violence as another form of deep time encounter, with the assistance of Dr Thom van Dooren of the University of New South Wales.

Finally, in April we will think about haunting as a final mode of encounter with deep time, in the company of Prof Steven Hartman of Mid-Sweden University.

Each visit will involve a day-long workshop, a postgraduate master-class, and a public lecture. More details will follow very soon!
